Hey, I'm Lisa Jay and I'm as local as they come.
I was actually born in Brookings, SD while my parents were attending SDSU. We moved to Winner shortly after that. I am a graduate of Winner High School class of 1991. I continued my education in Brookings at SDSU. Go Jacks! I graduated with a bachelor of science in Interior Design. That's right folks, I am not doing what I went to college to do. However, I have never regretted receiving my college degree. It truly does open doors.
Quickly as my resume is quite lengthy, I practiced interior design on the commercial side mostly in Rapid City, Fargo, and the most recently in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. I did a brief stint in residential design and had to run screaming from all the soccer moms that I wasted hours upon hours pouring over yellow wallpaper. I'm sorry if you are a soccer mom with nothing better to do with your time than drive poor interior designers insane but geez there are more important things in life, I promise! I truly enjoyed the commercial side of design and became profient in Computer Aided Design and a master at configuring cube farms. The big bad world of systems furniture hasn't quite caught on in this area which is OK. The best thing I took away from my 10 year career with interior design and sales is how to work with all kinds of people. This is something that has proved helpful in everything I have done since.
Why did I move back to my hometown? It's sort of a long story but what it came right down to is that my husband, young children and I had a strong desire to be near family. I am blessed to have my parents and my only sister and her family right here in Winner. My children are thriving in this wonderful community which I have loved all my life. I am truly home.
How did I end up at KWYR? This too is a long story but basically I have always been a big fan of radio. Upon moving back to Winner I worked as the Marketing Director / Foundation Director at Winner Regional Healthcare Center which I did enjoy but always felt like I was destined for something else. This opportunity presented itself at the right time.
I am thrilled to be the News Director and Country 1260 Mid-day host. If you have any news feel free to call or email By Clicking Here. |
