| Governor Rounds Visits with Winner Leaders |
|
Governor Mike Rounds made an informal visit to Winner yesterday afternoon. A small group of community leaders were present to have a cup of coffee and visit about issues. Foremost on the minds of most in the community was the plight of our school system. Rounds sympathized and offered advise. Other topics that were breached were the possibility of the TransCandada Pipleline and what it could mean in terms of revenue, the importance of road and bridge maintenance in the state, and programs that can be utilized to promote South Dakota.
Rounds indicated it would be a tough year for the legislature in terms of budget, sighting an increase in Medicaid being the main concern. The Governor praised businesses on keeping the unemployment rate well below the national average noting that employers in South Dakota care for their employees and families. He also talked briefly about the Dakota Roots program that has already brought 400 families back to South Dakota.
